Statue Pull

On April 11,2003, the statue was moved to the library.  The school system let out all of the 3rd and 4th graders in the county and the 5th grade from the Intermediate School to pull the statue from the Lucedale Elementary School to the Library. Each class pulled the statue with ropes for about 270 feet.  In all approximately 750 children took part in the event.  At the library, the statue was dedicated to all grandmothers and the children were served with refreshments.  They were encouraged to touch the statue and some of the greatest pictures were of them reaching out to touch it.  All in all it was a great day.  The children were exceedingly well behaved and took direction great.  Many thank to the children and their teachers for making it a wonderful day that I hope they will remember all ways.
